Proposed Civil Partner Visa

A proposed civil partner visa is for a person who intends to enter into a civil partnership in the UK with an eligible sponsor. The couple must show that they have a genuine relationship, are free to form a civil partnership and intend to do so within the permitted period.

After the civil partnership has taken place, the applicant may be able to switch into the partner route from inside the UK if the rules are met.

Intended Civil Partnership Assessment

We verify that both partners are free to form a civil partnership and plan to do so within 6 months.

Ceremony & Financial Proof Support

We review notice of civil partnership bookings, relationship history, and financial requirements.

Proposed Civil Partner Route

Partnership in the UK

  • Proposed civil partner applications
  • Ceremony planning evidence
  • Relationship evidence
  • Financial and accommodation checks
  • Switching after civil partnership

Ceremony Plans & Eligibility

Essential Evidence

It is important to use the correct route because a visitor visa is not normally suitable where the intention is to settle in the UK after the ceremony.

  • Evidence both partners are free to form a civil partnership
  • Relationship evidence
  • Ceremony booking or planning evidence
  • Sponsor status evidence
  • Financial, accommodation and English language evidence

We can prepare the proposed civil partner application, organise ceremony and relationship evidence and advise on the next partner application after the civil partnership.
